Devon Tsuno was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. The city’s vegetation – both invasive and naturally occurring - and water usage - are the primary subjects of his technicolor, lushly layered paintings, prints, and artist books.
Tsuno received an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in 2005 and a BFA from California State University, Long Beach in 2003. He is an Assistant Professor of Art and Design at California State University, Dominguez Hills where he directs the painting and drawing program. Tsuno’s work is collected and exhibited the world over, including shows at the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, the Hammer Museum Venice Beach Biennial, the Roppongi 65 in Tokyo, the Flower Pepper Gallery in LA. Recently in 2020, Tsuno became a featured artist for In Plain Site, an artist coalition highlighting the plight of immigrant detention centers in the United States.
